Overlooking the public Crossing of the Central Saint Martins building at Granary Square, a 2-part installation uses colour, texture and space to celebrate the character and energy of our creative community. Showing in the Window Galleries to 24 January, Big Walls and Windows 2023 speaks to the highs and lows of artistic practice, our relationships to each other and to the college space we all inhabit.

THE CLASS OF 2023: GRADUATE AWARD

For over three decades, the Museum & Study Collection has purchased works from graduating students with the intention of improving representation in its storytelling and reflecting the diverse communities at Central Saint Martins. In 2020, the process was formalised into the Graduate Award, aiming to speak to the issues that are important to our students and their lived experiences, such as race, gender, sexuality, identity, and mental health.

MA FASHION COMMUNICATION PROPHESISES THE FUTURE OF FASHION

From 23–25 November, we hosted MA Fashion Communication graduate showcase. Marking the 30th anniversary of MA Fashion Journalism, from which the rest of the course has sprung. Throughout its three-decade journey, the programme has consistently shaped the future of fashion. In a year marked by the rise of generative artificial intelligence, the Class of 2023 unveiled projects that provided a glimpse into the dynamics of a volatile industry.

On 21 November, MA Performance: Writing Course Leader Ray Grewal introduced Central Saint Martins’ students to the author of Fever Pitch and About A Boy, whose adaptations of An Education and Brooklyn won him Oscar nominations.
