The Maison/0 Green Trail highlights the best nature-positive projects by our graduating students across design disciplines at Central Saint Martins.

Five winners present transformative interventions in their subjects, from regenerative folklore in fashion, to future furniture that forms a symbiotic relationships between individuals and photosynthetic microalgae, to narrative audio environments that walk us through UK farmland and soilscapes, reminding us where our food comes from as we shop.

Our Lethaby Gallery team carried out their first exhibition carbon audit in March 2023. Documenting the different elements used to design, furnish and fit out the show, the process gives insight into the impact of exhibition design decisions on carbon emissions.

Graduate Charlotte Werth has been developing her bacterial textile printing innovation in her role as the first Designer in Residence for Maison/0, the Central Saint Martins LVMH Platform for Regenerative Luxury.
Last month Charlotte launched her machine printed textile collection, Automating Violacein, at Future Fabrics Expo 2023 – the primary international platform for fashion material solutions.

UAL recently showcased the breadth of its research at Eureka – a new addition to this year’s London Design Biennale at Somerset House. Eureka showcased design-led innovation from the UK’s leading research centres. Sharing work from across the university, the exhibit included 12 projects from Central Saint Martins, that demonstrate what design can do when social purpose is at its core.
